The mighty U-Roy, one of the pioneers and biggest names in Dub, will be landing in London alongside NYC’s Love Trio to play a very special and intimate concert showcasing their new collaborative album, ‘In Dub’. This is a rare chance to catch the legend in London and on one of the best soundsystems around.
Known as ‘The Originator’, U-Roy wasn't the first DJ, nor even the first to cut a record, but he was the first to shake the nation and originated a style so distinctly unique that he single-handedly changed his homeland's music scene forever. Since 1961 U-Roy has been DJing and cutting tunes with heavyweights of the Roots and Dub scene including King Tubby, Peter Tosh and John Lee.
Love Trio’s Ilhan Ersahin first heard U-Roy when he was 13 years old. It was one of his first record purchases and set him on a path that would ultimately culminate in the creation of the astounding ‘In Dub’. Alongside Ersahin are bassist Jesse Murphy (Brazilian Girls), and drummer Kenny Wollesen (Tom Waits).
As a group Ershin, Murphy, Wollesen and U-Roy make for a formidable assemblage. Their combined efforts and knowledge have created an outstanding album seemlessly fusing Dub, Roots, Jazz, and their visit to London will be a unique, one-off show of epic proportions.
